What is shortbread?
Shortbread, or shortie, is a traditional Scottish biscuit.
At it's core, we're talking butter, flour, and sugar, but we throw a little salt and vanilla in there too. Despite what you may think, shortbread is not bread, although it's origins started with extra bread dough being sweetened and dried out in the oven. The term "short" means crumbly, which is commonly used to describe pastries, pies, and tarts in the form of shortcrust. Shortbread is a very holiday focused treat, but we're doing our part to make it accessible year round.
